Thoughts from the Presbytery – 2 September

  • The success of the 180 years celebrations last weekend were due to the work of the committee and the many people who contributed to the display, catering and liturgy. Congratulations and thanks to everyone involved.  Due to my failure to apply GST to the dinner, concert and sale of books, we will be lucky to cover costs.
  • Speaking of finance, we were told that the asbestos audit of parishes would cost $1,900 and be payed over two years. Yass has been hit with a bill of $3,160 and Gunning $1,780.  At least one small country parish had been charged in excess of $9,000.  There are people sitting in comfortable city offices inventing new ways to financially crush others.
  • On the 23rd September, the Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated at a 10am Mass. This year we only have fifteen confirmandi and I ask for your prayerful support for these young people and their families.
  • Mass Thursday morning will revert to the normal time of 7:30am.
  • Next week I hope to have organized a survey in preparation for the Plenary Council 2020 discussions.
