Thoughts from the presbytery – 1 February

  • Pope Francis is visiting the UAE this weekend. He is the first pope to celebrate an open-air Mass on the Arabian peninsula, which is due to be attended by up to 135,000 at the Zayed Sports City Stadium.  This will be the largest act of Christian worship in the Arab world ever.
  • We now have low-gluten breads for those parishioners who have coeliac disease. Tarrawarra doesn’t guarantee completely gluten-free, but it is about one part per million.  Please let me know before Mass if you require a low-gluten bread.
  • This Tuesday, 5th February, St. Augustine’s Finance Committee will meet at 5:30pm. If you have issues you would like discussed, please speak with a member.
  • School is back and seems to have gone smoothly at Mount Carmel. The Opening School Mass will be held Thursday 14th February, 9:45am.  There are four students traveling to Trinity College, Goulburn, the bus leaving Mount Carmel at 7:30am.
  • Just a reminder to members of St. Augustine’s PPC. Our first meeting for 2019 will be held on the 13th February at 7:30pm.
  • Next Saturday after baptisms, I will join Kenneth and Paula Beaton who will be preparing couples for marriage. Please keep this important apostolate in your prayers.
