News from the presbytery – 5 April

Next weekend we celebrate Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord.  Thanks to the Webster’s and their friends who will supply the traditional palms. But if you have olive branches, please bring them for distribution.  On the Sunday at 2pm, there is also a rally in support of asylum seekers and refugees, at Riverbank Park at the gazebo near the poplars.  This rally is organized by Yass Rural Australians for Refugees.

After the Easter Vigil, 6:30pm, 20th April, there will be a supper to welcome Trish, Wendy and Georgia.  Please bring a plate and meet these wonderful ladies as new members of our communities.  With their sponsors, a practice will be held on the Saturday at 10am.

Nine young people from Gunning parish will celebrate the Sacrament of Penance/Reconciliation this Sunday.  Many thanks to John Duncan and Maryanne Hannan for supporting the parents at this important time in their faith journey.  Wednesday evening in St. Augustine’s, about twenty will also celebrate the Sacrament of Penance/Reconciliation.  I am grateful to our Sacramental Team, led by Di Carey with the support of Kassie, Linda and Mandy, in their dedication supporting the parents of these young people.

Thursday this week, the Finance Committee in Gunning will meet.  Parishioners who have issues you would like discussed, please speak with a member.
