Join our pilgrimage from Yass to Murrumbateman on Saturday 23 August 2025 to celebrate the Jubilee Year theme "Pilgrims of Hope". The pilgrimage commences with a Pilgrims Blessing at St Augustine's Church Yass at 8am and concludes with Mass and supper at the Murrumbateman Catholic Church hall at 6pm. There will be the opportunity to stop and pray along the way at some pop-up shrines and you will be able to accumulate stamps in your pilgrim passport. The route is along the back roads including Gums Lane and Dog Trap Road and is relatively flat. It includes walking along footpaths within Yass and Murrumbateman towns.

The total length of the pilgrimage is 30km, but there are options to do shorter sections as follows:

  • Stages 1-4 (full route) commencing 8am
  • Stages 2-4 (19km) commencing 11am
  • Stages 3-4 (13km) commencing 1pm
  • Stage 4 (6km) commencing 3pm

To complete the sections within the timeframe available you will need to be able to sustain an average walking speed of about 4km per hour.

The pilgrimage with have vehicle support with access to a portaloo available at locations along the route. Entry is free but we ask you to consider making a donation to assist in covering costs which are anticipated at about $20 per person.  There is a donation facility available immediately after you have selected your tickets. Children 15 years and over may participate but must be accompanied by a designated adult at all times.
