Thoughts from the presbytery – 23 November

Just one week to have your say in the survey on topics for the Plenary Council 2020.  The response so far has been excellent and I am grateful to those who have taken the time to complete the survey.  Using the results, we will have another meeting early February before we decide who will take our findings to a deanery gathering during Lent.

We have a vacancy on the Parish Pastoral Council to oversee education in the parish.  Joe Morrissey has decided to resign after five years and his replacement will need to cover areas of education beyond Mount Carmel School.  I thank Joe for his contribution, especially at the dreadful time of the closure of our secondary school.

This week the Parish Finance Committee will meet, Thursday 5:30pm at the presbytery, and if you have issues you would like as agenda items, please speak with a member.  There is also a deanery meeting in Goulburn this Thursday.

In the past four days, we have received donations of $30.000, $1,500, $300 and $100 for our work in Timor Leste.  Besides these generous gifts, I also acknowledge those who contribute on a regular basis.  Yass/Gunning committee will meet on the 14th December to discuss priorities for 2019.

Mass at Linton (Thomas Eccles Gardens) in December will be held on Tuesday 4th December, at 11:00am not 11th December.
