Thoughts from the presbytery – 13 March

At the Vigil Mass next Saturday we will give thanks for the gentle ministry of Sr. Macrina, who after fifteen years in Yass will move to Young.  After Mass there will be a ‘pot luck’ meal in the Hartigan Centre.

The coronavirus has caused upheaval around the world and the future is uncertain.  Fear is overcome by love and as people of faith we must trust God.  Seek the intercession of St. Roch, born in Montpellier 1350, a miracle-worker who was venerated and associated with the arrest of the plague.

During my annual holiday after Easter, I had booked and paid for a flight to Dili on the 20th April.  As a poor country, Timor Leste has no means of testing for coronavirus and travel insurance won’t cover me.  I will probably have to cancel the trip and remain in Australia for the three weeks.  Due to our low exchange rates, we are having a problem in paying for supplies to our clinics.  If you are prepared to help, Yass/Gunning Belun bank details are as follows:

BSB:                062 786
Account:           000028521
Account Name:  Timor Leste
Reference:        TL donation

On the feast of St. Patrick this coming Tuesday, there will be Mass at 5:30pm.

Mt Carmel Community Council will meet this Thursday at 6:30pm.
